NATIONAL RAILCARDS
Railcards offer value for money if you travel by train, saving you at least 1/3 on rail fares.
You can now buy Railcards online!
You can now buy 16-25, Family & Friends and Senior Railcards online. Simply click on the 'Buy Now' link next to the Railcard you are eligible for. Alternatively you can call your preferred Telesales line or visit your local station to apply.
Finding Railcard discounted fares is easy!
When planning a journey with our Journey Planner, in the Passengers and Railcards section simply select the number and type of Railcards that you will be travelling with and click 'Add' after each selection. When the fares are displayed, click on one of the prices to see how much money you've saved by using your Railcard!
16-25 Railcard - £24 for a whole year
Aged 16-25 or a full time student aged 26 or over?
Save 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain.
16-25 Railcard discounts now apply to ALL Standard Class Advance fares and many First Class Advance fares (Cross Country, East Midlands Trains, First Great Western, National Express East Coast and Virgin Trains services).
Start making Epic Savings now. To buy online, you’ll need a valid UK driving licence or passport number to prove you’re eligible, and have a digital passport style photo saved on your computer.
Note; online purchase is currently not available for mature students. You will need your educational establishment to sign and stamp your Railcard application form to verify you are a full-time student, so you must apply at a station. Pick up a leaflet from any staffed station ticket office.
Your Railcard will give you savings on more than just rail travel. More information on the latest partner offers is on the 16-25 Railcard website.
Family & Friends Railcard - £24 for a whole year
Travelling with kids?
Save 1/3 on most adult fares and 60% on child fares with a Family & Friends Railcard.
Family & Friends Railcard discounts now even apply to ALL Standard Class Advance fares. Up to four adults and four kids can travel on one Family & Friends Railcard and they don’t need to be related! At least one named cardholder and one child must be travelling together for the whole journey.
Senior Railcard - £24 for a whole year

Travel often within South East England?
If you travel regularly in the South East of England, buy a Network Railcard and you and up to three other adults can save 1/3 off standard class adult fares (restrictions apply Monday to Friday; see the Network Railcard website for more details). Up to four children, aged 5 to 15 can save 60% on the child fare (£1 minimum fare applies). The Network Railcard cannot be purchased online, but is available through telesales or stations.
Disabled Persons Railcard - £18 for one year or £48 for three years
The Disabled Person’s Railcard saves 1/3 off standard and first class tickets and is available to disabled adults and children (as explained in the Rail Travel Made Easy leaflet) for rail travel. It also allows one accompanying adult to travel at the same discount.
